Bitter melon peptide: a sourcing guide for blood-sugar formulas

What we ask the facility before we quote. When an enquiry for bitter melon peptide comes in, the first thing we do is ask the hydrolysis facility to confirm the peptide figure of the lot they would actually ship — not the grade on paper, the lot itself — together with its loss on drying and total ash results. If those three numbers do not come back clean, we do not send a quotation. It is why our first reply sometimes takes a day rather than an hour.

Ask three suppliers for bitter melon peptide and you will usually get three prices attached to one very similar-looking number: 75% peptides. The figure is the right place to start, but it is not the whole specification. This guide is about what sits around that number — and what to ask before price enters the conversation.

What bitter melon peptide is

Bitter melon (Momordica charantia) has a long history in traditional blood-sugar support, and the modern Western market has turned it into a category of its own inside metabolic supplements. Bitter melon peptide is the protein-based form: the material is produced by controlled enzymatic hydrolysis of fresh bitter melon, followed by separation and spray drying. The result is a white to pale cream fine powder, water-soluble, with a clean taste.

That matters commercially. A peptide preparation behaves differently from a solvent extract of the same fruit, and it lands in different formats — which is why the first question in any serious enquiry is not “how much per kilo” but “peptides prepared how”.

The assay that defines the grade

Our standard production grade is stated on the product page as peptides 75%. That is the figure that defines the grade, and it is the figure every quotation should lead with. Two things follow from it:

  • It is a bulk peptide measure. Peptides 75% describes the peptide content of the powder as a whole, produced by hydrolysis — not a single marker compound stripped out of the fruit. Treat any quotation that mixes the two concepts as a red flag worth one clarifying email.
  • It does not travel alone. A peptide figure without loss on drying and total ash beside it tells you nothing about process control. The supporting lines are in the next section, and they belong in every quotation.

What a complete specification covers

This is the specification we publish for bitter melon peptide, and the shape we suggest you hold any supplier to:

ParameterStandard production grade
SourceFresh bitter melon (Momordica charantia)
ProcessEnzymatic hydrolysis, separation and spray drying
Assay — peptides75%
AppearanceWhite to pale cream fine powder
Particle size80 mesh (standard), 100 mesh on request
Loss on drying≤ 5.0%
Total ash≤ 5.0%
Packing25 kg fibre drum, double polyethylene liner
Shelf life24 months in unopened original packing

Alternative assays, mesh sizes and carrier systems can be produced to your specification — but the default grade above is what most buyers in this category receive, and it is what our quotations describe.

Documents, samples and lead times

  • Documents: a batch-specific COA covering the peptide figure together with loss on drying and total ash, the full specification sheet, MSDS/SDS, and allergen and non-GMO statements.
  • Samples: drawn from production lots, not lab stock, so you test the real material. 1 kg and 5 kg foil bags cover samples and pilot runs.
  • Lead times: in-stock items are ready in about 2 days; bulk production of standard grades runs 3–5 working days after deposit. Transit from Xi'an runs about 3 days to Shenzhen consolidation, then roughly 6 days by air to major U.S./EU airports, or 18–25 days by sea.

One honest identity note, because buyers ask: we are an authorized export sales representative, and the hydrolysis and drying are done by our manufacturing partner under the specification above. That is also why we can say precisely which documents arrive with each lot — the paperwork flows through the same desk as your order.

Five questions to ask before your first order

  • Which peptide figure will the actual lot carry, and by which method is it measured?
  • What are the loss on drying and total ash results of that lot?
  • Can you supply a COA and specification sheet before payment, not after?
  • Is the sample drawn from a production lot, and which packing will it arrive in?
  • What is the lead time for my quantity — and the transit time to my port?

Ask those five of any supplier, including us, and the answers will tell you more than price ever will.

Frequently asked questions

What assay is bitter melon peptide supplied at?
Peptides 75%, produced by enzymatic hydrolysis of fresh bitter melon (Momordica charantia) with separation and spray drying. If your specification requires a different peptide figure, send it over and we will confirm feasibility with our manufacturing partner before quoting.

What documents come with a bitter melon peptide order?
A batch-specific COA covering the peptide figure together with loss on drying (at or below 5.0%) and total ash (at or below 5.0%), the full specification sheet, MSDS/SDS, allergen and non-GMO statements, and a pre-shipment sample drawn from the actual production lot.

How is bitter melon peptide packed and what is the lead time?
Standard packing is a 25 kg fibre drum with a double polyethylene liner, and 1 kg and 5 kg foil bags are available for samples and pilot runs. In-stock items are ready in about 2 days; bulk production of standard grades runs 3-5 working days after deposit.
